SETTING THE TIME ON THE CHOLESTEROL MONITORS
The day and time on the cholesterol monitors have been preset to Eastern Standard Time (Non-Daylight Savings) and may need to be changed depending on your local time zone.

To set the time:

1. Turn your BioScanner cholesterol monitors on by pressing either button (if not already in use). Wait for display to read INSTALL MEMO CHIP or INSERT STRIP.
2. Push both buttons together. The display should read RUN TEST.
3. Press the "NEXT" button until SET TIME is displayed.
4. Press the "ENTER" button. The hour format (12 vs. 24) will be displayed.
5. Press the "ENTER" button to accept the 12-hour am/pm clock, OR Press the "NEXT" button, then press the "ENTER " button to accept the 24-hour option. The hour will be displayed.
6. Press the "NEXT" button to increment the hour.
7. Press the "ENTER" button to accept the hour. The minutes will be displayed.
8. Press the "NEXT" button to increment the minutes.
9. Press the "ENTER" button to accept the minutes. display should read RUN TEST.

SETTING THE DATE & UNITS
To set the date:

1. Turn your BioScanner cholesterol monitors on by pressing either button (if not already in use). Wait for display to read INSTALL MEMO CHIP or INSERT STRIP.
2. Push both buttons together. The display should read RUN TEST.
3. Press the "NEXT" button until the display reads SET DATE.
4. Press the "ENTER" button to display the MONTH.
5. Press the "NEXT" button to increment the month.
6. Press the "ENTER" button to accept the month and display the DAY.
7. Press the "NEXT" button to increment the day.
8. Press the "ENTER" button to accept the day and display the YEAR.
9. Press the "NEXT" button to increment the year. 
10. Press the "ENTER" button to accept the year. The display should read RUN TEST.

The UNITS are preset to English. If you prefer metric, follow these steps:

1. Turn your BioScanner cholesterol monitors on by pressing either button (if not already in use). Wait for display to read INSTALL MEMO CHIP or INSERT STRIP.
2. Push both buttons together. The display should read RUN TEST.
3. Press the "NEXT" button until the display reads UNITS.
4. Press the "ENTER" button. The display should read ENGLISH.
5. Press the "NEXT" button. The display should read METRIC.
6. Press the "ENTER" button. The display should read RUN TEST.

USING THE CHECK STRIP
Your BioScanner 2000 cholesterol monitors reads reflected colors. A special "Fixed Spectrum Check Strip" is included to check the instrument's electronics. The Check Strip provides a permanent color standard to be "read" by the instrument. This gives the user an immediate test to make sure the BioScanner 2000 cholesterol monitors are working properly

When to check your BioScanner 2000 cholesterol monitors
Check it anytime you'd like--when your instrument is new, or if you just feel the need to know that your BioScanner cholesterol monitors are working properly.

Checking the BioScanner cholesterol monitors with the Check Ships
Install a valid MEMo Chip and turn on the instrument by pressing either button. When INSERT STRIP is displayed, insert the Check Strip, strip guides up, into the Test Strip Insert Guide.

Note: Two Check Strips were provided when you bought your BioScannner 2000 cholesterol monitors. If you should ever lose or misplace one or both of these cholesterol monitors strips, they will be replaced at no charge.

Check Strip Results 
When the instrument displays CHECK STRIP PASSED, the BioScanner cholesterol monitors are ready to run tests. If CHECK STRIP FAILED is displayed:

1. Clean the BioScanner cholesterol monitors with a soft, lint-free, damp cloth. (See "Caring for Your BioScanner 2000™ cholesterol monitors".)
2. Inspect the check strip to make sure it is not dirty or damaged. Use your spare check strip and repeat.
3. See "Troubleshooting".

GETTING READY TO TEST
What You Will Need
Before starting your test, you should gather up some of the following materials:

• A finger-stick device.
• Sterile, disposable, finger-stick lancets. 
• Sterile alcohol wipes (optional).
• Your BioScanner cholesterol monitors.
• An unexpired vial of BioScanner cholesterol monitors Test Strips.
• The MEMo Chip from the same package of strips.
• A tissue or cotton ball to wipe your finger after the test.
• A diary or log to record test results (optional).

Before performing the test on your cholesterol monitors, thoroughly wash your hands in warm water using an antibacterial soap and dry your hands with a clean towel.

Now, just follow the easy steps shown below.

CAUTION: Do not operate the BioScanner cholesterol monitors in direct light. If the display says "TOO MUCH LIGHT SEE USER GUIDE", move the BioScanner cholesterol monitors out of, direct or bright light.
