What's at risk for cholesterol monitor? More than cholesterol testing machines New PTS technology for cholesteral testers

PTS new products in development
PTS has its next generation BioScanner cholesteral testers product in development with launch projected for early 2001. Other cholesteral testers in development include: Continuous Filtrate Collection (CFC) Bio Scan Test System The Continuous Filtrate Collection (CFC) Bio Scan Test System is a device which can be attached to the body to perform continuous monitoring of glucose levels and diagnostic tests using bodily fluid. The CFC incorporates much of the BioScanner technology in its testing system. In contrast to the BioScanner cholesteral testers, which requires continuous finger pricking to produce whole blood samples, and is thus "invasive"; the CFC is minimally invasive in that it will be invasive only upon its original insertion under the skin. Continuous testing thereafter will require no further penetration into the skin. The CFC has been successfully used in animals. PTS is also exploring the possibility of linking the CFC to an insulin pump or similar delivery device, which would result in a complete product to not only measure blood chemistries but also deliver insulin or other medications to respond to unusually high or low levels of certain blood chemistries. The expanded use of the CFC is in the development stage. Opti-Scan The Opti-Scan is a product system involving a special contact lens (corrective or non corrective) which can be used with the BioScanner cholesteral testers to perform non-invasive diagnostic tests, such as glucose levels in diabetics. This product is still in the development process. |
